Product Description

The Quicke family have lived at Newton St. Ceres in Devon for almost 500 years. They have developed a deep connection with the land they have nurtured for 14 generations. As such, Quicke’s clothbound cheeses are made by hand in the traditional and much loved old-fashioned way, the product of years of experience and skill. Each of their cheeses has a distinct flavour profile, in essence an expression of the grass, soil and seasons of the family’s cherished farmland.

Quicke’s Clothbound Goats Milk Cheese delivers a delicious and creamy taste that can be both almondy and buttery at the same time.

The goats are the British Saanen Breed which were developed in the UK, but are influenced by the Saanen goats of Switzerland. Their milk is used for this cheese and comes from the nearby farm belonging to Lucy Wastenage, she looks after a herd of some 650 milking goats. The breed is know for being easy to care for as they are calm and extremely affectionate. They are milked morning & evening and like cows tend to come in the parlour in roughly the same order.

The Saanen breed is sometimes known as ‘Queen of the Dairy Goats’ because of their stately features!

Each of these Clothbound Goats Milk Cheeses are made using pasteurised milk and vegetarian rennet making them suitable of those whom are pregnant and those who may suffer from a lactose intolerance as by it’s very nature Goats Milk is much to digest.

This delicious cheese is perfect when accompanied by a glass of chilled Sauvignon Blanc and perhaps a dash of Elderflower Jelly on the side.
