La Altima Sauvignon Blanc 2021

The Anthonij Rupert Wyne Estate really started in 2003, when Johann Rupert took over from the late Antonij Rupert, who passed away in 2001. Since, the estate has been a figurehead in the region, in both winemaking technology and industry insight. The estate is almost a ‘cooperative’ in nature, slowly buying land throughout the Western Cape and further afield.  The ultimate aim is to have producers under the Anthonij Rupert Wyne Estate name which showcase the specific style better than anywhere else.  This Altima Sauvignon Blanc is no exception.  It’s situated in Elandskloof, an isolated valley which is 5km wide and is surrounded by steep mountain range that rises 1km from the valley floor.  The steep topography causes the valley to receive less direct sunlight due to the overshadowing mountains, providing an incredibly fresh and  easy drinking Sauvignon Blanc, closer to Sancerre and Pouilly Fume, rather than a typical New Zealand Sauvignon.

Expect notes of: Gooseberry, freshly cut grass, elderflower, jasmine and a sprinkle of citrus rind.
