Product Description

One of Wales’ best loved soft cheeses, Perl Wen, meaning White Pearl in Welsh, is a glorious and unique cross between a traditional Brie and a Caerphilly cheese

A traditional  farmhouse Caerphilly recipe is used as a starting point for Perl Wen which gives its soft centre a fresh citrus flavour with a hint of sea salt.

The cheese was developed by Carwyn Adams on his Carmarthenshire family farm. The Carwyn’s family have been cheesemakers for six generations, and his parents, Thelma and Gwynfor, were key figures in the Welsh artisan cheese revival in the late 1980s.

Concentrating originally on traditional Cearphilly and other Welsh recipes, Carwyn has now developed an unrivalled range of uniquely Welsh cheeses including this and also its cousin, Perl Las; which is a rich blue veined cheese and the delightful rind-washed Golden Cenarth

Perl Wen cheese can be enjoyed at any age, unlike French Brie styled  cheeses, this style of cheese will never ooze, it’s not in its nature, but it will soften to a bulge as it ages and its flavour deepens.
