Gaggiarone “Dintorni” 2019

Dintorni. It translates to “in your surroundings”, or “within your proximity”, a nice nod to the fact that the best wines are made in the vineyard. You tasted the Rosé is the Way earlier, which was a light pressing of the native grape Croatina. Now, you’ll taste Croatina in its purest form, from 30 year old vines, made totally naturally and organically. Minimal sulphites, with this prestigious cru taking its name from a vineyard on a steep incline (17%!) that has a south-westerly exposure, with soils of clay mixed with tuff. The land is extremely difficult to work, and must all be done by hand. Carolina tells us she is rewarded for this hard work with the quality of Croatian grapes.

Expect notes of: blackberry, rich cassis, cherries, coffee, liquorice and chocolate.

Cheese pairing: Perfect with Gorgonzola Dolce or aged parmesan.
