Product Description

Garstang Blue is an award winning cheese made by Dewlay Dairies in Lancashire with a rich velvety and creamy texture and a mild blue taste

The dairy was founded in 1957 by George Kenyon, a Lancastrian dairyman who spotted an opening in the market for this style of cheese.

His son, Neil Kenyon, joined his father after leaving school and carried on the tradition of consistently producing high-quality Lancashire Cheese. With great foresight and vision, in 1997 Neil moved the business to its current site, designing and building Dewlay’s dedicated dairy and packing site, nestled on eight-acres of land.

Dewlay is now run by third generation brothers, Nick and Richard Kenyon, who are carrying on the fine tradition laid down by their grandfather and father, producing one of Lancashire’s finest cheese.

The cheese is Lancashires answer to a blue cheese, the county not previously known for its blue cheeses as it’s traditional cheesemakers concentrated firmly on making the traditional tasty and buttery Lancashire cheeses the county is so well known for.

This cheese is a perfect introduction to the complex world of blue cheeses since it’s mild and soft flavour doesn’t assault the palate as other blue cheeses may.

Its a perfect cheese to add into a blue cheese sauce or to simply enjoy as part of the cheeseboard with accompanying charcoal biscuits and a drizzle of honey.
