The perfect gift in a hamper. Every member of the family can find something to enjoy. From tangy cheddar to indulgent Stilton and accompanied with Cheshire Chutney and Water Biscuits. Packaged in a tray lined with tissue paper and zig zag packaging, the hamper is then wrapped in cellophane and tied with a green raffia bow.
The Hamper contains:
Stilton. Colston & Bassett Dairy have been making this cheese for over 100 years gathering milk from a 1.5 mile radius of their dairy in the Vale of Belvoir. It’s the only hand ladled Stilton cheese in production and gains its name from The Bell coaching tavern in the nearby town of Stilton who’s landlord in the 18th century was noted for selling a “very fine blue cheese”. 200g
Baron Bigod. Made by Jonny and Dulcie Crickmore on their family farm in Suffolk situated on the banks of the River Waveney, this cheese was named after the Earl of Norfolk who in the 12th century owned the farmland. The Crickmores have been dairy farmers all their lives at Fen Farm Dairy in Suffolk. Falling milk prices prompted them to diversify into cheese making. Seeing a gap in the market for a large (3kg) unpasteurised Brie (similar to Brie de Meaux) they started to develop Baron Bigod. This involved purchasing a herd of French cows (Montbeliarde breed) to provide the rich milk needed to complement their newly-acquired cheese-making skills. 200g
Montgomery Mature Cheddar. Made by James Montgomery on his farm with Friesian milk from both evening and morning and matured for up to 24 months The statesman of the farm, Montgomery’s Mature Cheddar is the epitome of traditional, handmade, unpasteurised Somerset Cheddar, matured for 12 months wrapped in muslin cloth on wooden shelves and has deep, rich nutty flavours. 200g
Oak Smoked Cheshire. Made by the Bourne family in Malpas with milk from their own Friesian herd and matured in the farms own cellars to develop its own unique flavour. The Bourne family are one of the last farming families in Cheshire to still make traditional Farmhouse Cheshire Cheese, which has been smoked over oak to give the cheese a punchy full flavour. 200g
Nantwich Chutney and Water biscuits are classic accompaniments to any cheese board.
