Product Description

A clothbound, pressed sheep’s milk cheese that is close texture, creamy and savoury with a hint of sweetness. International Cheese and Dairy Awards “Champion UK Sheep Milk Cheese 2024” and “ICDA Best Novice Cheesemaker 2024”

In 2020, John and Heather retired as veterinarians and pursued a lifelong dream of sheep farming with a vision to create artisan cheese from ewes milked on site. A disused former dairy farm in the rolling Derbyshire countryside was chosen as the perfect location. The farm has a lot of history with evidence there once stood a moated medieval manor house and chapel, along with records of cheesemaking having taken place in the 1800s.

Over the course of the next three years, a modern cheesemaking facility was built as well as a bespoke new-build milking parlour for the 600 beautiful East Friesian sheep. The project featured on “Ben Fogle: Make a New Life in the Country” in 2022.
It is truly a family business, John and Heather’s daughter and husband look after the sheep while their son makes cheese and son-in-law runs the cheesemaking side of the business.
